8th Grade Math: At KIPP Academy Boston, Math Teachers challenge all students to rigorously access grade level, Common Core material. While the majority of students enter KIPP Academy Boston performing below grade level in Math, Teachers build a culture of growth and achievement by emphasizing stamina, grit, and hard work. Math Teachers utilize Eureka Math to create a curriculum aligned to the Common Core.
In 2015-16 as our KABE students grow to 1st grade and we welcome a new class of Kindergarten KIPPsters, we are looking for a Dean of Instruction to help our teachers and students continue their growth and development. The Dean of Instruction will provide individualized coaching to teachers, plan and execute small group and whole group professional development, and lead school-wide content development and alignment in at least one subject area.
Kindergarten and First Grade Lead Teachers: Kindergarten and First Grade Teachers use a combination of whole group, small group, and blended learning instruction to help kids grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and critical thinkers. Small group instruction for Math and Literacy ensures we’re serving all learners at all levels, so that everyone, from our newest English Language Learner to our most proficient reader, grows every day.
8th Grade Reading: The rising 8th grade KIPPsters at KIPP Academy Boston are voracious readers who are willing to explore any text you put in front of them. Students dive in and dig deep for meaning in both classic and contemporary texts and are eager for an 8th grade Reading Teacher who will continue to grow their skills and foster their love for the written word.
8th grade Humanities: Humanities teachers at KIPP Academy Boston Middle School push students’ thinking about the ties that bind us as humans and students’ ability to capture their ideas and arguments in writing. In Humanities, students dissect and write non-fiction texts about history, government, the politics of identity, and the sociological and philosophical impacts of these subjects.
